Abruzzo: A Feast for the Senses 13-day tour from 29 Aug - 10 Sept 2012

Experience Abruzzo's authentic culture, traditions & festivals, gastronomic delights, heritage & unspoilt beauty

Hello other members of Italian Encounters

I am an Australian from generations of Anglos but my name is Italian & that has been my intro to Italy and Italian people.  I now live in Melbourne but many years ago spent some time living in Firenze where I taught English to both adults and children.  I loved living in Italy & have visited there a number of times over the years and have taken my children there so have managed to instil in them a similar love for 'things Italian'.

I have tried to keep up my language skills so continue to read in Italian & watch Italian films when I can.

My plan is to visit Italy again in the not to distant future (ie, next year I hope) & in the meantime, I keep an eye on various Italian cultural events in Melbourne, which is how I found this site.

It's a great idea so I look forward to 'meeting' other members.

A presto,

Francesca

Ciao Francesca and Benvenuta a Italian Encounters!

Thank you so much for the contributions you have made so far to this community - I have greatly enjoyed reading your comments/thoughts.

I have always thought that a person's name has some influence in a person's life - For you this seems to be definitely the case in leading you to Italy.

I also taught English to Italian adults many years ago in Pescara, Italy - which is on the adriatic coast. I used to live there during the week and then catch a bus for 3 hours and travel up to the mountains to spend the weekends in a little town called Torricella Peligna, Abruzzo which is where my family comes from.

We have 2 other members so far from Melbourne - Kalli and Phill. I know Kalli is a keen learner of Italian and would love people to practice with. You will see her introduction in the intro section and in her profile in the Italophiles tab.

Saluti

Liana
Ciao Francesca, benvenuta

Loved hearing a little about you and your story. You must have wonderful memories and experiences of Italy--our aim with this site is to give our community the opportunity to relive these moments and share them with others.

The success of our site relies not only on us providing our members a multi-faceted view of Italy and Italians, but also on our members sharing their own experiences and letting us know how we can improve on our efforts.

Buon divertimento....
