Abruzzo: A Feast for the Senses 13-day tour from 29 Aug - 10 Sept 2012

Experience Abruzzo's authentic culture, traditions & festivals, gastronomic delights, heritage & unspoilt beauty

During my recent travels, my camera was a constant, enabling me to capture many special moments. I want to relive some of them here with you.

The season that welcomed me when I travelled to Italy last year was Spring. It was early May, but the scent and warmth of summer wasn’t far away. As I travelled around the country, normally by train, I was awe-struck with the fields of girasoli (sunflowers) and papaveri (poppies).

But the sensation didn’t really take hold on me until I visited my grandparents’ property—with its openness, trees staring to bear their fruits, then the view, in the background, of the imposing and beautiful Majella (the part of the Apennines that runs through Abruzzo). I vividly relieved memories of my brief childhood spent with my grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and extended families nearby.

These pictures for me highlight the wonder of nature and stir my senses—reliving wonderful memories and experiences.    We would love for you to share with us your seasonal sensations.  What sensations do the seasons evoke for you?  Share with us your stories and pictures.
