I attended an art course in a small village called Mondiano in Le Marche and it was a beautiful village, very scenic, lots of wonderful hillside farms, we stayed in a farmhouse with a wonderful garden.

Marianna replied to Steve Giles's discussion 'Review - Boboli Garden, Florence - Poorly Maintained, not worth the time or price'
Hi Steve - what a disappointment! I visited the gardens a long time ago and recall they were quite pleasant - it was over 8 years ago in summer. It's a shame - hope they're not a victim of the economic crisis! Marianna

I had my first big trip when I was 5, my family took a boat the "Marconi" to Italy. It was 1 month long and we went via the cape of South Africa and then spent 4 months in Europe. I know I definitely got the travel bug then and I have…

Hi Gary - it seems to me that 'big' cities the world over have similar characteristics: they try to cater to the 'tourist' and seem to lose some of their atmosphere and customs. These days I love travelling to smaller cities and…

I would say travelling has changed my life. When I was in my mid-twenties, I ditched my job, left a relationship, and hit the road for 20 months. I went first to the States, then to Canada, across to Europe, North Africa and finally home. I had so…

Ciao a tutti

We are very excited to announce that in the next year we will be launching organised and personalised tours to Italy.

To ensure we develop products that meet the needs of those travelling with us, we have designed a short 'Holiday in Italy' questionnaire to collect data on your needs and preferences for an Italian holiday.

The questionnaire is short and should take less than five minutes to complete. Once completed please return to Marianna Di…

Grazia Marianna, I need this holiday so much I have been thinking of nothing else. I have been told only one person speaks english in the town so we have been practicing our Italian a lot!. I think this is the best way to get to know an area and being a little town makes it perfect.

Ciao Marianna

Sorry for my delayed reply, just found your comment and had to translate some Italian. I know a little but not all - scusa!! Mi dispiace. No I am not born in Italy though my family come from the Lazio region. Don't really have ties there now though sadly. Wish we did!! The last time I went there we stayed in the town of Frascati which was interesting. The traffic in the town was insane.

ciao

Caterina

Ciao Marianna. It must be bellissimo in Italia during Winter, especially Northern Italy and the Alps! What region of Italy do you intend to travel through? Which was your favourite Cinque Terre village? One more question - Could you recommend b & b accommodation in Riomaggiore or Vernazza, Cinque Terre? There's so many to choose from! Jo.

Grazie Marianna. Your a gem! I'm planning the trip for May 2011. At this stage, I will be flying to Pisa Airport and staying for a few days to do day trips in the region. I will then take the train to Levanto and will be walking the Cinque Terre, ending in Santa Margherita. Finally, a few days in Bellagio, Lake Como to visit the lake region. Contento, Molto Contento! Ciao, Jo.

Hi Marianna,
Great to hear from you. I found out about Italian Encounters through Kali Pulos she encourage me to join. I am so glad I did. I have always wanted to visit Italy and decided about a year ago to learn your beautiful langauge. I have been studing Italian for just over a year now. Studied lots of Grammar, but have little conversation, however I am working on this. I plan to visit Italy next year, I would love to attend some cooking schools and learn to cook some fabulous Italian dishes. I also hoping to spend several weeks in Florence studying the Italian Language. I love reading anything I can find on Italy. Have read Head Over Heel by Chris Harrrison, a fun read. Just finished Amore and Amaretti by Victoria Cosford, and the latest book is La Bella Lingua. I subcribe to Italianicious and joy this magazine. Your photo's are great. Saluti Brenda
