My partner and I are hoping to spend about a week at Lago Maggiore in September 2011, and prefer staying in a self-catering apartment to a hotel.  I've heard that Stresa is very beautiful but it also seems to exist solely for tourists.  Has anyone stayed in a nice apartment, that they would recommend, in this region?  We would like to have a view of the lake and be within walking distance of cafes, shops, ferry and bus terminals if possible, as we won't have a car.See More
