"Marianna, It's a passion, not an obsession! Perhaps, as you say, is there a difference? The architecture of Italia is devine, and is one of the many reasons I return to my favourite country - Italia. During my last trip to Italia in May, I also…"

Hi Jo,

Your trip sounds great and 5 weeks is a good amount of time too.

Abruzzo and Umbria are both really lovely. If you wanted to see Abbruzzo Marianna is your best resource there.

The questions is always how fast do you want to travel around? These days I prefer to choose some areas/places and relax in them rather than trying to go to too many places in the one trip. Hence a big part of this trip will be a month in Florence, which has so many smaller places around it to visit. Currently skiing in the Dolomites for 2 weeks.

We have the luxury of time on this trip (1 year) but still becasue I don't want to rush around I know I won't see everything - se la vie.

If you're a skier, The dolomites are great! Aparently you never have to do the same run twice, there is over 1,000km of runs which my husband is happily exploring every day. I am in Ski school :-)

A presto

Liana

PS Just booked our trip to Venice for Carnevale Mid feb - very excited about this as I never thought I would be able to get there or afford the accommodation.

Ciao Jo,
Your choice of travelling in late Spring is ideal, all the places you're planning to visit should be beautiful. My photos of the Cinque Terre have come back vividly to mind. You will have a wonderful, wonderful time.

I'm looking forward to seeing snow when I go to Italy in late January/February 2011. Love the winters over there (as a traveller).
A presto

Ciao Jo
Saw your message on our Italian Encounters Facebook page in relation to accommodation in Bellagio - Lago di Como. I don't know the area very well and can't recommend accommodation, but have done a little research for you--see the attached link. It's in Italian, but you should have no problem. When will you be there?

Anyway, I hope this helps. If I find any further information, I'll let you know.
