Rome in the Rain

The morning we first woke up in the middle of Rome we wondered why it was so quiet outside on what was a normal working weekday. There didn’t seem to be the normal buzz of city traffic and people on the way to work. It sort of built up gradually over a few hours until by late morning things were as we would normally expect them to…See More

"Hi Nick, your story captures Venice so well. On a recent trip I also was lured by the tiny streets and alleyways leading away from the city centre where you get to see people in their normal environment, and no shops or tourists! Beautiful photos,…"

Avoiding the Merchants of Venice

She is helpful most of the time, but irritates a lot of the time. She is a “big picture” person – a real asset when setting goals and directions, but not a lot of help, indeed downright useless when in one of those crisis situations when you need accurate, definitive information right then and there. Her name is Barbara but is also known to us as Valerie and Pamela. Maybe we should have engaged Maria or Valentina whose command of the Italian language, doubtless would have been better. “Park in…See More

Il Costeria Amalfitana

Surely I have died and gone to heaven.  Desperately clinging to a sunny south facing seaside hill, small stone houses with beautiful timber doors lacquered to within an inch of their lives, invite the persistent traveller with a hearty “prego”.  I say persistent because only the hardier explorer is likely to visit this place.  Via San Tommaso 5 was one such stone house that we had the pleasure of staying in for a week.  It was more than half way up a street which scales this hillside some 150…See More

Benvenuto Nick

In speaking to Liana today, she told me that you're an avid photographer and inspire others to take great photos and lasting memories during photographic tours.

What great a great idea!

We'd certainly love you to share some of your work (stories, pictures, experiences, etc.) with our members

Your activity may be a point of collaboration between yourself and Italian Encounters...we should discuss further.

A presto
